'Bilbies are my next door neighbours, they live beside me, not far. I did this painting, to try and protect these Bilby. You say Bilby, we say Nyarlgoo in Gooniyandi. What's around the Bilby is the food. We call them Lagarndi, its a grub that sit under the roots.... On the right of the painting there are some holes. Where the Bilby dig their holes, this is their home. In Bilby Country, you see a lot of pindan. They only dig their camp (in pindan) in cold weather time. When the wet season come, they look around for high ground, mainly around the gravel pit. Some of the holes are not really live, they have already been used.' Claude Carter
Environs Kimberley thanks Claude for this beautiful design, which has been adapted with permission from his larger piece Nyarlgoo (see image 2). Claude receives $1 from each sticker printed.
