EK has teamed up with former EK Chairperson, Natalie Davey, who created this wonderful Sawfish design. The first image is of Natalie in her Sawfish design. This colour t-shirt is no longer available.
The Freshwater Sawfish is a remarkable critically endangered animal with a 60 million-year-old lineage. These fish have become extinct in much of their former habitat through dams, overfishing and habitat destruction. The Fitzroy River is the last global stronghold of this magnificent creature. This is where the Sawfish give birth to their live young, called pups.
The Sawfish can grow to seven metres and swim thousands of kilometres – one has been found as far away as Cape Leeuwin, more than two thousand kilometres from the Martuwarra Fitzroy River.
Martuwarra Fitzroy River Sawfish are already under pressure, with mass Sawfish deaths last year on Gina Reinhart’s pastoral lease, very likely the result of modified habitat and climate change. Plans to pump huge amounts of water out of the river could be catastrophic.
Proceeds from sale of this item support the campaign to protect the Martuwarra Fitzroy River.
